Our client is a rapidly growing USDA Food Manufacturer with multiple plants on both coasts in the US. Due to continued growth, they are looking to hire a Senior Quality Assurance Manager based in Dover, NJ area to ensure the food safety and quality of all products produced in two local plants in NJ. Responsible for ensuring specifications are defined and communicated to formalize process capability and institutionalize process control and predictive quality processes. Conducts inspections of processes and employees training, ensures compliance with applicable food laws and regulations and verifies plant HACCP plan.
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are general duties that an employee in this role may or may not be required to perform.
Develops and ensures that implementation of food safety and monitoring
programs meet corporate and regulatory standards. Oversees and monitors program
implementation (i.e. HACCP, GMP, BRC, Pest Control, SSOP, hold and release and
product disposition)
Supervises 10 or more employees and coordinates staffing of temporary and/or permanent employees
Reviews all quality control test results and provides disposition of finished product to ensure customer specifications are met
Develops, implements and monitors ongoing execution of all product-relate testing and product holds pertaining to quality or food safety issues. Has direct authority and responsibility for final disposition determination and execution for finished product
Provides direction for in-process and finished product testing, instrument
calibration and environment testing
Investigates, tracks and provides responses for customer complaints and returns
Develops and monitors standard operating procedures (SOPs) as they pertain to
the QA functions and product quality
Updates reports on product quality, environmental results and incident activates
Directs and facilitates the annual training of employees in GMP, HACCP, BRC,
Allergen, Food Security and other quality and food safety expectations/programs of the
quality management system
Ensures that the team conducts Plant Audits as scheduled and ensures follow up
to identifies issues
Interact with regulatory compliance agencies (i.e. USDA or etc.)
Prepares plant and leads efforts involving third-party Customer/Plant Audits
Communicates and interacts effectively with all departments and management to
ensure the smooth operation of the process
Reviews processes and quality testing program at least once a year to validate
the effectiveness of the quality and food safety programs
Coach, train and develop team members to improve individual and organization
performance
Handles customers and consumers complaints
Approves employee timecards
Requirements
Identifies problems, researches and collects information, analyzes data and
establishes facts, draws valid conclusions and clearly and concisely presents solutions
of makes effective recommendations
Working knowledge on LSAS/USDA Label approval system
Strong understanding of microbiology and sanitation process
Resolves problems in a timely manner
Is a highly organized self-starter
Demonstrates great attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping
Able to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or
narrative form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
Is customer-focused
Adapts to changes int eh work environment, Manages competing demands; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
Displays leadership skills and experience
Demonstrates strong interpersonal (written, verbal, listening and presentation)
and management skills with all levels of employees and with internal and external customers
Able to coordinate with other departments, managers or supervisors
Able to work flexible hours
Able to travel between facilities as required
Has knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook processing software and Time and Attendance systems
Education/Experience
Must have a least a Bachelors degree, in Food Science, Meat Science Food/Biological Sciences or a closely related field preferred.
Must have at least 3-5 years of USDA or RTE experience as a Quality Assurance Supervisor/manager; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have good working knowledge of QA management principles, practices an procedures preferred, as well as experience with regulatory systems and audits.
Must be HACCP certified and Internal Auditing]
