The Unit Coordinator functions as the facilitator for the Surgical Services Department. This position plans, organizes, coordinates and schedules procedures and treatments, as well as the activities of the department, physicians and patients. Will prepare and maintain confidential documents and records. Will have direct contact with incoming patients. Will process and forward information throughout the facility. Will handle visitor calls, visitor contacts and questions. Will coordinate and request services from other departments.

Education: High School education or equivalent.
Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, English grammar and spelling.
Ability to write and communicate clearly. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability remain, react and act calmly during emergency situations, while maintaining and directing an orderly and safe environment. Use of computers, fax/copy machines, telephone, paging systems and data base systems. Ability to work with various hospital departments, medical staff and the general public.
Licenses/Certification: Certified Health Unit Coordinator certification preferred. Maintenance of current CPR or BLS preferred.

Shift – 12 Hours
Schedule – Varies
Compensation: $18.90 – $20.80/hr, depending on experience.
