Responsibilities

  • The Lead Patient Care Technician will provide direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse to all assigned patients and maintain a safe patient area.
  • Assist in the triaging of patients, including admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Report all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences of an urgent nature as they develop
  • Take vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collect specimens
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Assist with patient transport and transfer
  • Collect, report, and document clinical data
  • Adhere to safety and risk management standards
  • Assist with clerical and communication tasks to support patient care
  • Perform any and all other duties assigned
  • Balance and prepare the schedule for the manager review and publishing
  • Work with staff for all open shifts and staffing needs.
  • Lead the monthly Patient Care Technician staff meeting, complete with meeting minutes and follow-up
  • Preceptorship of all new Patient Care Technician candidates, including completion of the orientation handbook
  • Monitors staff BLS certifications and ensures all certifications are up to date
  • AIDET validation and revalidation on new and existing staff
  • Perform any and all duties as assigned

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Patient Care Technician in an Emergency Department Setting
  • Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Licensure: EMT, EMT-P certification, or equivalent training or hospital experience required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant and/or nursing student enrolled in a Nursing program who has successfully completed theoretical and clinical practical in fundamentals of nursing in nursing school
