*Position Summary*
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the twenty-four hour planning, development, control and coordination of clinical functions of the assigned unit. This description is not intended to be a complete list of duties. Other related duties may be assigned.
*Essential Functions*
* Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and other related criteria appropriate population in his/her assigned area.
* Maintains required core competencies.
* Complies with set Policies and Procedures (i.e. name tag, dress code, parking, smoking, etc.)
* Develops and implements system to assure department revenue is consistently and accurately recorded on a timely basis.
* Assumes responsibility for special projects or studies, as assigned; informs Pathologist on a regular basis of the status of ongoing projects and studies.
* Creates an atmosphere which motivates staff to work at optimal efficiency.
* Identifies future needs and develops workable solutions; follows through on solutions.
* Regularly rounds on all assigned areas and shifts to foster staff/management relationships and to evaluate patient care systems.
* Evaluates staffs work performance with Pathologist, and CEO; completes evaluations in a timely manner.
* Provides appropriate orientation for staff and evaluates their progress. Initiates orientation schedules.
* Assignments and projects are completed in a timely manner.
* Balances responsibilities between teaching, management responsibilities, meetings, professional conferences, and clinical duties of assigned areas.
* Periodically assesses staffing against staffing plan to meet patient care needs.
* Adapts and supports changes in hospital function, and routines.
* Appropriately delegates duties and responsibilities to staff with the authority to carry out these duties.
* Provides leadership and develops staffs ability to Plan, Organize, Lead and Control within their areas.
* Demonstrates effective analytical abilities necessary to review patterns, develop plans, assess needs, and evaluate performance.
* Develops an understanding of the function and interrelationship of each department to the overall functioning of the lab.
* Demonstrates the ability to provide direction in the application of process and outcomes, quality improvement standards, organizational and departmental goals and objectives in accordance with established policies and procedures.
* Conducts all aspects of management/clinical practice in a fair, firm, consistent, and objective manner.
* Performs in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision.
*Education & Experience Requirements*
* Bachelors degree in Medical technology or related field and masters in Business or Healthcare is preferred.
* Certification: Either AMT or ASCP
* Two years recent relevant acute care clinical experience, appropriate to area of responsibility, preferred.
* Demonstrated leadership abilities and knowledge of clinical and management processes.

Pay: $30.00 – $52.00 per hour
