Unit Summary:

The 39-bed unit is dedicated to providing high-quality pre/post general surgical care as well as managing the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. The RN will be responsible for providing patient-focused nursing care to patients with various surgical needs, including Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies, Tracheostomies, kidney and liver transplants, and trauma patients. RNs on this unit can learn about a wide range of surgical procedures and techniques, which can enhance their expertise and contribute to their professional development.

Job Summary: The General Surgery/Trauma/Transplant Manager is responsible for the operational management and strategic planning of the department. This leadership role ensures high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and operational efficiency to meet the needs of our patients, staff, and community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to nursing staff to maintain clinical excellence.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership, ensuring effective communication.
  • Identify and address operational or clinical issues promptly to enhance patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the departments strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Education/Qualification

  • BSN
  • MS in nursing or Masters degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience that demonstrates a progressive leadership background perferred
  • CRRN Certification required within one year of meeting eligibility requirements
