Teijin Automotive Technologies Sarepta Facility has an opening for a Controls Engineer on day shift.

Position Summary:

The Controls Engineer works directly with plant and corporate engineering on plant and equipment improvement projects, new equipment installations, equipment and process upgrades and improvements, research and development of new products and new processes and new product launches up to and including prototype and development to full production launch of automated systems. The Controls Engineer supports the maintenance staff when troubleshooting/breakdown repairs on electronic equipment is needed and coordinates electronic maintenance work with the plant maintenance staff. The Controls Engineer performs PLC, HMI and PC programming tasks as required for plant operation and creates and maintains electrical equipment and facility drawings. Elementary training of maintenance personnel regarding electronic equipment and processes also fall within the Controls Engineer's responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Recommend equipment improvements and/or manufacturing methods that would result in improved quality or greater efficiency.
  • Coordinate all mechanical / electrical system modifications with external vendors, maintenance personnel and Facility Engineering Manager in regards to automation control.
  • Organize and maintain all system documentation (mechanical/electrical prints, software documentation and backups, path problems, robot configurations and parameters and configuration parameters).
  • Outline and maintain maintenance practices for automated systems and programs.
  • Design and implement software, electrical and mechanical automated systems from concept to full development and production launch.
  • Support and assist maintenance personnel with diagnosing software and electrical system problems.
  • Support Multiple PLC and electrical controlled automated systems.
  • Design, implement and support all human machine interface (HMI) hardware and software for automated systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 5-year experience in the practical application of engineering technologies to manufacturing processes with emphasis on automation, programming, vision systems, and control systems.
  • Experienced in an engineering field within a manufacturing environment.
  • Competence with PLCs, including programming.
  • Competence in personal computer Windows applications including: Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of control systems, PLC programming and systems integration.
  • Technical leadership.
  • Long term technical planning as applied to manufacturing processes.

Education:

Bachelor degree electrical engineering

Physical Requirements:

Position requires excellent health and physical condition. Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs. on occasion. Knowledge of the use of chemicals specific to the job – some exposure to fumes. Requires some telephone usage and ability to use computer keyboard. Must be physically able to mount and operate a fork truck and company vehicles. Good eye/hand/foot coordination. Must be able to work in close proximity to high temperature molds (290 degrees F-320degrees F). Repetitive motion of arms, hands and shoulders may be required on occasion.
