About The Position

A Registered Nurse (RN) in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides specialized care for patients who need more intensive monitoring and treatment than those in a general medical-surgical unit but are not critically ill enough to require care in an intensive care unit (ICU). PCU RNs assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and assist with procedures. They care for patients recovering from surgery, heart conditions, respiratory issues, or other serious health concerns. The role requires the ability to recognize changes in patient conditions quickly and intervene appropriately. Strong communication, critical thinking, and the ability to manage complex care tasks are essential for an RN in the PCU.
